Frequently Asked Question Levoit Air Purifier

What does the air purifier filter?

Preliminary Filter: captures large particles such as dust, lint, fibers, hair, and pet fur. This filter also maximizes the lifespan of the HEPA Filter by protecting it.

H13 True HEPA Filter: captures at least 99.97% of airborne particles 0.3 microns (µm) in size. This includes fine dust, smoke particles, and allergens such as pollen and pet dander.

Activated Carbon Filter: physically adsorbs smoke, odors, and fumes, including household odors like cooking smells and pet odors.

NoteThe LV-H126 uses an H12 Personal HEPA Filter, and the Core Mini uses an H11 HEPA Filter which traps approximately 99.9% of airborne particles 0.3 micrometers (µm) in diameter. This filter is slightly less effective than an H13 filter, but still extremely effective.

Can I run my air purifier 24/7?

Yes, you can—depending on your personal needs and current air quality, you can run the air purifier continuously or just a few hours a day. However, if you run the air purifier constantly (or at a higher fan speed), the filter may not last as long. If you run the air purifier a few hours a day as needed, the filter will last longer.

As with any electronic device, we recommend supervising its use and turning it off if you are away for extended periods of time, such as when you leave the house.

Where should I place my air purifier?

If possible, place your air purifier toward the center of your room. This allows for even air intake and circulation throughout your space. In general, it is recommended to place your air purifier on a flat, stable surface with the display facing up. Some smaller models such as the Core Mini, LV-H128, and the Vista 200 can be placed on a coffee table, nightstand, or shelf. Make sure to allow at least 15 inches of clearance on all sides of the air purifier and keep away anything that would block airflow, such as curtains.

Note: It is not recommended to place the air purifier on a soft surface, such as carpet.

What is the difference between each air purifier model / Which one should I get?

Generally, the main difference between air purifiers is the effective range; once you know the square footage of your space, you can match that to an air purifier that fits. Other important factors to consider are noise level, unit size, and features like auto mode, sleep mode, and timer. Consider which allergens you would like to target, as well as your room size; our team at support@levoit.com would also be happy to provide some recommendations!

Which model should I get?

Generally, the main difference between air purifiers is the effective range. Other important factors to consider are noise level, unit size, and features like auto mode, sleep mode, and timer. Consider which allergens you would like to target, as well as your room size; our team at support@levoit.com would also be happy to provide some recommendations!

My room is bigger than the recommended room size—will the air purifier still be effective?

Yes, if the air purifier is running, it is filtering pollutants from the air. Air change per hour (ACH) is used to measure how many times all the air in a room can be purified (or “changed”) by the air purifier in 1 hour. Generally, ACH is the measure of the efficacy of an air purifier. Five changes per hour is recommended for more intense purification, but this number may be less for larger rooms because it takes more time to filter a bigger space.

What is the benefit of a Wi-Fi-compatible air purifier?

Smart air purifiers are compatible with Wi-Fi and can connect to the free VeSync app. This allows you to adjust the fan speed remotely, check your air quality, set a fan timer or schedule, view filter life, pair your smart appliance with Alexa or Google Home, and more. When you’re out running errands, you can look forward to freshly filtered air when you get home! Non-smart air purifiers cannot connect to the VeSync app and can only be manually operated. Wi-Fi-compatible models include:

  • Core 200S
  • Core 300S
  • Core 400S
  • Core 600S
  • LV-PUR131S

Note: You do not have to use smart air purifiers while connected to the VeSync app. All smart air purifiers can also be manually operated.

How often do I have to change or replace my filter?

Depending on your air quality and how often you use the air purifier, it is recommended to change the filter every 6–12 months. If the air purifier is used in an area with excessive exposure to pollutants (fur, dust, smoke, etc.), the filter will get saturated quickly and you may need to change it more frequently.

As a reminder, the “check filter indicator” light will turn on when it’s time to check the filter and clear any dust buildup. This reminder light is based on a timer, not the quality of the filter.

Can I clean or wash the filter?

You can vacuum the surface of the filter using a soft-brush hose attachment to remove any excess dust. We don’t recommend cleaning the filter with water, as this can cause mold to grow within the filter.

Which replacement filter do I get?

  1. Find your air purifier's model number by checking the label (on the back or underside) or the manual.
  2. Find the filter with the same name as your air purifier. “RF” stands for “replacement filter.”
